One of the most unique and affordable souvenirs to document a moment in time on your Disney Vacation is having a silhouette session. We had a portrait done of our three sons ages 5, 4, and 1 years old at the time. We returned this year to have a second one made to update them at ages 10, 8.5, and 5. I cannot wait to add it to our gallery wall of photos of the boys.
These one of a kind images are done by artisans on Main Street, U.S.A and outside of Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Liberty Square both in Magic Kingdom. You can also sit for a silhouette on a non-park day at Disney Springs at The Marketplace, near the Ghirardelli shop. The hours of operation tend to be shorter than a park day, such as opening after park opening and stopping before park close. Also, the waits tend to be longer at the Main Street location.
At the time of writing (September 2022) the pricing is $10 per person which includes two copies. If you choose to frame the piece, this is an additional $13.95. These prices do not include the sales tax. I chose to have all three boys cut at the same time and framed together. My expense was less than $50 and will place the second image in the kid’s memory boxes of mementos.
I do not know if I will be able to get my boys to sit for another silhouette session as teens/tweens in another five years. But, for now, these classic pieces bring me joy to see hanging on my wall. They capture a moment of time: when my boys still had soft faces of children and my youngest’s pert nose. I know that I will look back at these and remember them as the trip we were caught in a downpour, the first trip where we could all ride Rock’n’Rollercoaster together, and the time we dressed as the Stretching Room Portraits for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
